Having returned home from a long-haul flight from overseas, I have to admit jet lag has taken over my life! Since the plane touched down at Sydney airport four days ago, I've been so tired that I simply HAVE to have a nap every afternoon just to cope! I'm wide awake at 2am, then nodding off at mid-afternoon as many a long-distance traveller can testify!
Hit a post-lunch slump every afternoon? Feel exhausted at the end of the day? Too tired to do a workout at the gym? Fatigue and lack of energy are real problems for many people today. Lack of sleep, long working hours, juggling to fit in the demands of work and family plus the competition for leisure time take their toll.
Find it hard to concentrate around 4 pm? Feel sluggish with no energy and have trouble thinking clearly? Reach for a chocolate bar to get you through that sleepy period mid-afternoon?
While no food can guarantee energy or creativity, there are 7 that are critical to the supply of energy in the body and the peak functioning of your brain. If you're constantly tired or lacking in energy, check your diet for these seven.

Do you work long lours at a desk or in front of a computer? You can't work for hours and be at your peak without a little help or a few energy boosts. Try one or two of my 10 suggestions over the days and you'll see a lift in your energy and productivity levels. I use these every day to stay on top of things, honestly! If you find they help, then perhaps you can incorporate them into your day's routine.
Would you like more energy? Want to bounce out of bed in the morning? Need to power through your Inbox? Isn't what all frantic overworked people want? Energy and lots of it! Yet that's not what is meant by the word ‘energy' when it's listed on a food pack.
As working women, fatigue, stress and lack of energy face us every day. When you're juggling kids, home and work, the causes are not surprising - long hours, more demands on us as individuals, lack of sleep or broken sleep, no time for ourselves, no time for just "chilling out".
