After all, we’ve had years of hype and marketing for cranberries, goji, noni, acai and mangosteen. Now there’s a new berry in your health food aisle or produce store. It’s the Incaberry!

<i [...]

It's being touted as the greatest super food of all time and the king of cereal grains. BARLEYmax has finally appeared in our food supply in the form of three new breakfast cereals, the first products to be made with the super barley. It's been over 12 years [...]

My lemon with water experiment Day 6

Me and my lemon again! The weather's got a little chilly last day or so so I've decided to sip my lemon with water as a warm drink. I was making it up with chilled water from the fridge but this got too cold for my stomach first thing in the morning.

To make the warm version, I simply boil the kettle, pour a cup of hot boiled water into a mug then leave it to cool for 10 minutes. THEN I add the lemon juice. Here's why. Vitamin C is heat sensitive so if I used the freshly-boiled [...]

My lemon with water experiment Day 5

Going well on my new experiment. I definitely am less hungry in the morning after I have my lemon with water first thing. Doesn't seem to have any effect on my appetite during the afternoon or evening but that's exactly what I what have expected. It's a morning only thing.

The lemon with water delays the start of my morning hunger. If I wake up at a 1 or 2 on my 10-point Hunger scale, the lemon with water pushes me up to a 5 for about half an hour which gives me enough [...]

My lemon with water experiment Day 3 & 4

Day 3 & 4 were both the same - I felt exactly the same on both so I've combined them. What I noticed on both these day is that the my glass of water with lemon really makes you feel hydrated first thing in the morning. Especially if you'd had a wine or two the night before and not drunk enough water before going to bed.

Also found that I like to sip another glass or two of the water with lemon during the day so I'm going through a lemon a day. Good for my vitamin C [...]

My lemon with water experiment Day 2

Started my morning with a chilled glass of water with lemon juice as yesterday. Was a bit of an effort to get it all down again this morning but I did it. And I must say it does fill you up and stop you filling hungry.

Had my 8am early-start Pilates class this morning so just had the water with lemon and managed to get throug the class no problems. I find I can't eat anything much before Pilates as it sits in my stomach and then I can't do the exercises whi [...]

My lemon with water experiment

I've started my day with an old-fashioned diet inclusion - a glass of water with lemon. I squeezed out the juice of half an average lemon and mixed it with cold water - then down the hatch before anything else!

Lemon-and-water is advice I've seen around for years. It's often listed on diet plans supposedly as an early morning [...]

Product review: Pomegranate molasses

I've just bought my first bottle of pomegranate molasses and can't believe how magnificent the flavour is! How come I got to the ripe old age of 50-something and never ever sampled this before? Something as basic as a marinade for la [...]
