20 non-food things to do when you’re bored
No video selected.

Here it is: a list of non-food things to do when you’re bored and you feel like eating or munching on something.

You may care to print these out and keep them somewhere to read often. Or you may even wish to tell me something you do to distract yourself that’s not in this list. Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

  1. Stretch for 5 minutes.
  2. Call a friend or loved one to catch up.
  3. Take a bath.
  4. Listen to a podcast.
  5. Watch a documentary on Netflix.
  6. Do some push-ups or sit-ups.
  7. Floss your teeth.
  8. Water the plants.
  9. Give yourself a manicure - or at least clip your fingernails.
  10. Do something you’ve been procrastinating about.
  11. Speed-walk around the block.
  12. Clear out those un-listened-to messages from your voicemail inbox.
  13. Jog on the spot.
  14. Rearrange the furniture in your lounge room or home office.
  15. Drink a big glass of water to keep hydrated.
  16. Take a selfie, make a meme with it and send it to your friends for a laugh.
  17. Delete old unneeded photos on your mobile to free up storage space.
  18. Clean something in your house you usually avoid – like the refrigerator or oven.
  19. Work on forgiving someone who has wronged you. Not for them, but for you.
  20. Re-watch videos you’ve shot on your phone. There’s always a gem in there, which will get you laughing and feeling nostalgic!

Plus one more:

 21.  Do a minute of eye exercises, especially if you’re looking at screens most of the time.

I ran this in my Newsletter during the pandemic and it got lots of interest. Hence, I have reproduced it here.

The bottom line

When you’re bored, don’t stand in front of the fridge or pantry. Do one, two or more of these things and you’ll be finding something else to do! I guarantee it.
